Drynam Hall Update

As you may be aware with myself and my colleague Cllr. Eoghan O’Brien, working closely with a group of your neighbours have been in regular contact with Fingal County Council in an attempt to address the issues affecting the residents living in Drynam Hall. In particular the “taking-in-charge” by Fingal County Council of the open spaces within the estate and the number of traffic issues.

I am pleased to give you the following progress update:

• In relation to the Class 1 Open Space opposite the entrance to Drynam Hall, the Council are at an advanced stage in completing the transfer of these lands. They expect the formal transfer to take place in late July / early August. These lands will provide playing pitches and passive recreation facilities.
• In relation to the open spaces within the estate (including the Playground). The Senior Parks Superintendent is in active discussion with Menolly Homes. I have informed the Council that all of the maintenance of the open spaces is being carried out by a local resident. This is an unacceptable situation for the residents to find themselves in. I am therefore pleased to let you know that a final inspection by Fingal County Council is due to take place within 2 weeks. It is planned then for the Council to take over the maintenance of the Open Spaces (what they call Class 2 Open Space) over the summer months. They will also take charge of the playground.

I am really pleased that real progress is now being made.

Roads/Paths.

I have complied a “snag list” of issues which I have received from residents of Drynam Hall. I have been in contact with the Transportation Department and they have agreed to visit the estate in August. The developer has not yet requested the taking in charge of the roads and paths. Therefore this process is likely to take some time. However in the meantime I am pushing for improvements along Kettles Lane at the entrance to the estate. I will keep you informed of progress in this regard.

I will be back in touch when I have further news. In the meantime if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
