FG'S DEPUTY LEADER JAMES REILLY CONTRADICTS ENDA KENNY OVER METRO NORTH
Fine Gael's deputy leader and Health Spokesperson James Reilly is at odds with his own party leader on the matter of Metro North.
Deputy Reilly today accused Labour of being all over the place on Metro North when he tweeted "Reilly supports 37000 jobs from Metro North project and slams Labour's negative attitude to the key transport and jobs initiative." While Deputy O'Reilly is taking the high moral ground on Metro North, it would be worth reminding him of contradictory comments made by his leader Enda Kenny on this matter.
Last year, the Irish Times reported the following comments from the Fine Gael leader "We will look at which infrastructure projects can be safely deferred or abandoned. That means that some projects, like the metro projects in Dublin, would be put on the back-burner. We would scrap the old National Development Plan and re-prioritise smaller, labour-intensive projects that can keep as many tradesmen and builders employed as possible."
It is not just the Labour Party that is all over the place on this matter. Fine Gael needs to clarify whether or not it would prioritise Metro North in Government. Fine Gael's leader and deputy leader clearly need to have a chat.
