€150,000 FUNDING INJECTION FOR FINGAL ENTERPRISE BOARD WILL CREATE JOBS & HELP SMALL BUSINESSES

I am delighted to announce that Fingal County Enterprise Board is receiving almost €150,000 in extra funding from the Government in a move that will create 21 jobs locally and provide support and assistance to small businesses. The funding is being provided in the form of grant aid (€89,068) and training and mentoring assistance (€60,000).

This allocation for Fingal is part of a €3.3 million funding boost announced by the Taoiseach for the country's network of county and city enterprise boards (CEBs). The funding will be paid out before the end of the year, creating more than 450 jobs across the country.

This funding will create a small number of new jobs in North Dublin and provide additional supports for small businesses. As the Taoiseach said when he was launching this initiative, jobs are the central priority of Government policy and the county enterprise boards create and protect jobs throughout North Dublin and indeed the rest of the country.

By focusing on local initiatives the county enterprise boards have the ability to respond quickly to the specific business needs of the local community. In that way they have more power to influence and support entrepreneurship, growth and productivity on a local level.

Basically any company which employs 10 or fewer workers and are in the start-up or expansion phase are able to apply to the county enterprise board for assistance. As well as providing business development grants they also provide training and mentoring to small businesses. The provision of this funding today will help in those efforts and not only create local jobs directly, but should help have a longer term impact on the development of North Dublin enterprise.
