The Labour Party has is once again sitting on the fence in the run up to the Budget according to Dublin North Fianna Fáil TD Darragh O’Brien.
“On the Late Late Show, Labour Party Leader Eamon Gilmore once again refused to say where his party would make the necessary adjustments to secure our country’s economy.”
“Deputy Gilmore once again said that savings had to be found but said that education and all social welfare rates would not be cut.”
“The most shocking news was that while Deputy Gilmore refuses to support the necessary Government adjustments, the Labour party would not reverse any adjustments in Budget should get into Government.”
“This makes no sense. Labour refuses to say where it will cut and make nonsensical pledges not to makes adjustments in the massively spending departments of education and social welfare but then will also refuse to reverse any adjustments should they get the opportunity to do so.”
“Once again the Labour party is content to let others make the difficult but necessary decisions while they sit on the fence.”
“The time for this blatant populism is over. This Government have a very definite and well considered budget and growth plan. This Government will make the necessary and challenging decisions and not try to hoodwink people into thinking that there is some easy solution. As the Labour Party have said they will not reverse the need adjustments they get off the fence should back the Budget,” concluded Deputy O’Brien.
