O'BRIEN SECURES CONFIRMATION ON BALBRIGGAN SCHOOL EXTENSION
I am delighted to announce that the Tánaiste & Minister for Education has given the go-ahead for a major construction project at Loreto Secondary School, Balbriggan.
The Department of Education and Skills has authorised the Board of Management at Loreto Secondary School to award the contract to the preferred bidder for a major extension and refurbishment project, including a new PE Hall.
This project, more than 3,600 square metres, is of vital importance to the school. This will create local employment through the construction work and revamp the school infrastructure.
This announcement is not only a commitment to Loreto Secondary School but also for Balbriggan and the surrounding areas of Skerries, Rush and Lusk. I visited Loreto personally on a number of occasions. I was completely convinced of the need for the school extension and games hall. I am delighted that construction will begin shortly and that the students and staff will soon have the facilities that they deserve.
I would like congratulate everyone involved, including School Principal Eddie Fynes and the Board of Management at Loreto Secondary School for all their hard work. I look forward to seeing the work begin very shortly.
