NEW SWORDS CENTRAL POST OFFICE TO OPEN IN A MATTER OF WEEKS

I welcome a commitment from An Post that the new Swords Central Post Office, near the Pavilions, is due to open around November 1st.

This is a very important development as the new Central Post Office will be around 2,500 square feet with a mezzanine of a further 1,100, offering a new and improved customer experience. The new facility will greatly enhance the service on offer to businesses and the general public.

The builders are currently working away on the new post office site and An Post has confirmed to me that it plans to open it around November 1st.

I have been in close contact with Angus Laverty and Matt Lennon in An Post regarding this important local facility. Staff are on hand this week at the existing post office where leaflets are being handed out to explain the impending change for customers. An Post will also carry out an extensive leaflet drop around Swords during the opening week of the new Central Post Office to ensure people are aware of the changes. I think this will be very important for the community and I support An Post's efforts to keep its customers up to date.

I have seen the plans for the new facility and it will offer a greatly enhanced service in a modern space. One of the significant differences for customers will be a number of ‘service zones' which will offer financial and insurance services alongside the postfone service to customers.

I'm confident from my discussions with An Post that some of the queuing issues that can occur in post offices will be eased at this new facility and I look forward to seeing it open in the coming weeks.
