Environment - Sewage Plant
Greatest Threat to Our Environment
The greatest threat to our local environment is the imposition of a massive sewage treatment plant to be located in Cloghran, with its outflow just off the beautiful strand at Portrmarnock.
I have, with local community groups, led the campaign against this ill-thought out proposal. Along with the 13,000 who so far have objected to this plant, I will continue to fight alongside you against this monstrosity.
Smaller, localised treatment plants are the correct and appropriate way forward.
Fianna Fáil will abolish Irish Water.
Fianna Fáil is opposed to the water charges system introduced by the government. People are paying for a water system that is not fit for purpose, with water charges going towards the Irish water super quango, rather than infrastructure.
Fianna Fáil will work towards the following measures:
› We will abolish Irish Water.
› We will immediately suspend all domestic water charges.
› Once the network is fit for purpose, and a fair, free water allocation is given to all users,we will introduce a conservation charge to support the maintenance of our vital water facilities.
› We will establish and implement a major capital investment programme over the next 13 years from this year onwards
