Welcoming today’s decision on CIÉ Pension Proposals, Minister for Transport, Darragh O'Brien, said:
"I want to acknowledge the positive outcome from the ballot of the Trade Union Group held on the CIÉ Pension Proposal agreed upon in May of this year. I would like to sincerely thank the unions and CIÉ management for the extensive collaboration and constructive engagement on this matter. Today’s decision prioritises the collective goal of bringing the CIÉ pensions schemes onto a more sustainable footing and provides for overdue increases for CIÉ pensioners. In line with the appropriate processes and requirements, my Department will continue to engage with CIÉ on the next steps in progressing the agreement." Minister of State with responsibility for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports, Séan Canney, said: “I welcome the outcome of the ballot on the CIÉ Pension Proposals and acknowledge the contribution of CIÉ staff and pensioners who have supported our public transport system with such commitment over many decades. The constructive engagement of unions and management has been vital in reaching this agreement, which provides for long-overdue increases for CIÉ pensioners and represents an important step forward. My Department will continue to engage with CIÉ as the next phase of this process is advanced.” Comments are closed.
